PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
